The Building
Northwest Film Forum’s mission is to discover and champion the work of visionary filmmakers, and to engage the general public and artists alike in deeper exploration of the cinematic arts. We are Seattle’s premiere film arts organization, screening over 200 independently made and classic films annually, offering a year-round schedule of filmmaking classes (including summer camps for young people), and supporting filmmakers at all stages of their careers.
We are located in a lovely 8,000 sq. ft. 1920’s building in the heart of Seattle’s arts community on Capitol Hill. The Film Forum’s cinemas have a bold raw look with hardwood floors and huge bare wood columns extending to the 20 ft. high ceiling, mixed with strong modern material. Spaces available for rental include two flexible 46 and 118 seat theaters, our public lobby, a small meeting/classroom space, and a post-production suite featuring a computer lab.
Hours
Standard rental hours are Daytime (9am-5pm) and Evening (5pm-close). Northwest Film Forum maintains a regular schedule of film exhibition and filmmaking classes, which impacts date and space availability. Please liaise directly with Technical and Rentals Director Matt Cunningham to check availability for your event, and discuss which space is right for your needs.
Parking
An affordable pay parking lot is available 3 blocks from the Film Forum, at the Greek Orthodox Church at 13th and Howell (please note this lot may be closed for special events). We also highly recommend Seattle Central College’s Harvard Garage at 1609 Harvard Avenue (at E. Pine Street), which is open and available 24/7. Free street parking is available Monday-Saturday after 8pm and all day on Sundays.
Security
Venue rentals are staffed by Northwest Film Forum employees, who monitor access to the building during the rental period. Rentals are often scheduled concurrently with other Film Forum programs, which are open to the public.
