The Building
Let the Duwamish Longhouse confer a unique NW setting and prestige to your next event or gathering.
It is a new facility with modern equipment. Affordable flexible spaces accommodate up to 190 depending on the set-up.
Built in 2009, the Duwamish Longhouse is the home of Chief Seattle’s Duwamish Tribe. The cedar longhouse is a traditional NW gathering space built to modern building standards. It’s “big room” is rated as a Public Assembly Hall and operated under Duwamish Tribal Services, a 501(c) 3 non-profit. We make the space available under a rental program to cover costs.
Regarding its use as an arts space: during the average year, we host at least 30 arts & cultural events of our own. In addition, we rent out the space about 50 times each year. The longhouse “big room” is approximately 40 by 60 feet. It is surrounded on 3 sides by 2 tiers of deep cedar benches which provide additional seating and display spaces. It is a flexible space which accommodates performances, poetry readings, film presentations, art shows and receptions, book signings, workshops, dinners and art auctions, etc. Tables, chairs, a large drop down screen, and audio/visual equipment are available.
Meeting, reception and banquet spaces welcome your guests. The reception area includes exhibits and an art gallery. It’s a one of a kind location in Seattle: a retreat 4 miles from the distractions of downtown and/or an enchanting NW experience for entertaining guests. Located across the street from 2 waterfront parks.
Revenues from the DLCC support the mission of the Duwamish Tribal Services.
The mission of Duwamish Tribal Services is to promote the social, cultural,
political and economic survival of the Duwamish Tribe, to revitalize Duwamish culture, and to share our history and culture with all peoples. In January 2009, we opened the Duwamish Longhouse & Cultural Center to promote and share the heritage of Chief Seattle’s Duwamish Tribe, Seattle’s First People and only native tribe. The longhouse serves as a cultural center for the tribe and an education center for its community partners.
