The Space
This large multi-purpose space is the visual centerpiece of the Collaboratory. Large windows, weathered brick walls, and a prominent portico make this an enticing place for events, programs, workshops, classes, or just to drop in for a while. Partnering with the Collaboratory and using the Mixing Chamber for your activities is possible on a one-time or ongoing basis.
Hourly Rental
$50 – $75 per hour
Our goal at The Collaboratory is to be accessible to all. Please don’t hesitate to ask about alternative payment options if $50/hr is not in your budget.
Rental Requirements
All users of the space must fill out a Space User Application and Agreement that details how the mission of their organization or event fits with our mission to “create community and equip change-makers”.
A $100 deposit is required to guarantee your reservation.
Rules & Regulations
Users are required to attend an orientation before their event and are responsible for cleaning up and locking up after their event as described in the orientation and contract.

The Building
The Hillman City Collaboratory is a non-profit, cooperative multi-purpose space shared by grassroots organizations and individuals who care about social change, creative expression, and community building. The Collab is is housed on the first floor of a beautiful and historic brick building in the heart of the Hillman City neighborhood in Seattle’s Rainier Valley.
The Collab contains: Music venue, Art Gallery, Community Garden, Learning Kitchen, Meeting Space, Large event space and Coworking Office.
Hours
Open Hours (stop by and say hi, view the art, get a tour!) Thursday-Saturday 9am-12pm.
Most evenings there is some event happening - some are private, some are open to the public. Check the calendar for other times!
Parking
Plenty of free street parking. Orcas Avenue is the easiest street to park on.
Security
We have security cameras at all entrances. Partners and staff have 24 hr access with lock codes.
