The Space
An intimate Seattle venue with a memento mori vibe available for rent for
your events; photo shoots; music, theater and dance pieces; and workshops.
Teatro de la Psychomachia is one of the more beautiful spaces you will find in Seattle. If you want to book an
event, show, workshop, rehearsal, class, photo session or to rent the

Renting Psychomachia :
For rehearsal space rental is $10 an hour.
For regular class space rental is $15 an hour.
For workshop space rental is $20 an hour.
The space’s capacity for events is 75 people.
Main Room/Performance room is 36ft x 24ft with 12 foot ceilings (however,
the actual height is between 9ft6 inches and 12 feet because of
intermittent pipes and crossbeams.)
In general an evening rental is 100 dollars or 30% of the door whichever is higher ... if you provide your own equipment.
If we need to get a sound person, they charge about 50 dollars.
If you want to lend music or sound equipment in exchange for free use of
space, and are comfortable teaching us your way to use your equipment
... this would be great.
Teatro de la Psychomachia is a live/work space. It is home to Vanessa Skantze, Richard Woods,
and five cats- rather shy but not always. Our bedroom is nearest to the space,
and there is also a back room.
The back room may be used for storage during performances and events but
please check with Vanessa first.
Generally the cats are closed up in the bedroom for performances and
events.

Hourly Rental
$10 – $20 per hour
$10 for rehearsals. $15 to$ 20 for and classes and workshops. By negotiation for photo shoots.
Daily Rental
$115 per day
Performance/Event Rate: teatro de la Psychomachia operates on a 70% artist/ 30% house split of the door, with a guarantee of $100 per evening (6pm-midnight) for most performances. For special events (showings, parties) the rate is $100 per evening.
Performance Bookings: Events may be booked in advance via email.
Performance/Event reservations include the use of the studio stereo equipment, folding chairs, and pillows for audience seating. We have simple lighting in house. The sound system (power amp, speakers, cable, mic stands) is available for live sound but arrangements must be made with Psychomachia regarding use of the equipment, potentially including the hiring of a sound person. Rent payment is expected on the evening the event is scheduled. A full strike of the space, including all chairs and risers, is expected after each evening’s rental

Rental Requirements
Damage:
Each renter will assume full responsibility for any damage caused to any part of the entryway, studio, back rooms, bathroom, stereo equipment, floors, windows, mirrors, walls, ceilings, etc. sustained during the renter’s scheduled studio time. Each renter agrees to pay in full for repair or replacement of any item or structure damaged by the renters or by performers, collaborators, or guests invited to teatro de la Psychomachia by the renter. Full payment for damage will be made within ONE MONTH of the damage.
Liability:
Each renter assumes liability for injury sustained by any persons they invite to the space, including but not limited to: injury to students in the renter’s class, injury to performers or collaborators in rehearsal, injury to guests or audience members at a showing.
Rules & Regulations
No smoking anywhere inside the space.
Each renter assumes responsibility for the security of the space during each rental period. Once rehearsal participants are present, please lock street door after hours and the door to the space.
Each renter assumes responsibility for returning the studio to a good state before they leave. Any chairs or pillows used must be put away, curtains tied up, lights and sound equipment turned off. If the gas heater is turned up please turn back down (not off) before leaving. If ceilings fans are turned off please turn back on. Trash and litter must be removed to the kitchen garbage can. Please sweep and mop if necessary.
Cancellation Policy
Rehearsal: Renters MUST pay for all studio space at or before the time it is used.
Rehearsal Cancellation: Space may be cancelled or exchanged via email with TWO DAYS notice.
Class Booking: Teachers of regular weekly classes must confirm their class schedule for a full three months.
Class Cancellation: Space may be cancelled via email with ONE MONTH notice. With less than one month notice, class renters may cancel but will pay full rental rate for the cancelled studio time.
Performances can be arranged via email.
Special events and theatrical productions will be charged a 50% deposit to hold the space. If event is cancelled more than one month in advance, a full refund will be given. If less than one month, the deposit will be kept in full.
A contract will be required for ALL rentals.
